Sad Poetry

Blogging from London, Ko Htike has been documenting the brutal crushing of the Burmese people by the thugs who run the government there.  He has been assisted by many brave people in country who, at considerable risk to themselves, have been forwarding him photos and accounts of the ugly events transpiring there.

This jumped out at me, the sad and accidental poetry of despair:

15:00 in burma time

right now
they're using fire engines
and hitting people
and dragging  them onto E2000 trucks
and most of them are girls
and people are  shouting

And among the photos on Ko Htike's site of the violence perpetrated by the Burmese government, there's this--a statement of the  demonstrators' demands that so terrified the military regime:

Meanwhile, the government has cut Burma's connection to the internet so that it can carry out its acts of brutality without the world watching.
