I was somewhat surprised to see that Matt Drudge gave Obama's speech the headline position, with a link not to right-wing analysis of it, but to the full text of the speech itself.
I say "somewhat" only because I have wondered, over the last year, if Drudge is evolving politically. His page right now includes these story lines:
Obama Tackles Race and Religion in White House Epic
CNN Poll: Majority of Dems Prefer Obama
'Super Delegate' Win Would be Unfair
Flashback Video: Hillary Clinton Speaks Out for Heather [McCartney]
Now perhaps Drudge is still the evil winger that we all have known and hated, and perhaps he is hyping Obama's candidacy because in his devious way he believes that Obama would be easier for McCain to beat than Clinton would. Or perhaps Drudge just hates hates hates the Clintons and the enemy of his enemy is his friend. But perhaps Drudge is having second thoughts about the bankrupt Republican ideology that has gotten the country in such a mess. I don't profess to know. I get the sense, though, that his site is not as rabidly right-wing as it used to be.
Meanwhile, over at Hinessight, an ostensibly more liberal tabloid that calls itself "the anti-Drudge," the headline about Obama is a link to an editorial in the Boston Herald by Patrick Buchanan.
