. . . and the streets are ours. As I've noted before, most summers are bookmarked in my mind by a particular song, usually a catchy pop ditty that sounds great coming out of a cheap car radio playing at full blast while the windows are down on a hot day. Since it's the first day of summer, it's time to make the selection. The choice this year was pretty easy: I can't get Katy Perry's "I Kissed a Girl" out of my head. It's got a good beat, a nice melody, and mildly provocative lyrics. It's like summer romances--not too serious, just fun. Yeah, it's "heteronormative" (which is a great bit of pseudoacademic jargon and a word I must use more often), but it's supposed to be less about sexual politics than a good fling.
For some stupid reason, Capitol Records doesn't want the official video of the song shared on non-YouTube sites and has disabled the embedding feature. Why they think this helps them build buzz for a new artist is beyond me--but anyway, since I can't post it here, here is the link to the vid.
There are, however, several unauthorized videos, including one that's kinda NSFW and several much suckier ones--including this Sims vid below.
Oh well, at least the audio is good. Happy summer!
